Each of the functions of the OIW Frontend for Excel is described in this section. The names given to the various functions correspond to the descriptions of the symbols on the "SAP Open Information Warehouse" tool bar.

Most of the functions can also be selected from the Microsoft Excel "Data" menu using the same names, as long as the OIW Frontend is active in Excel. One difference is that there are also some functions available on the tool bar that are not part of the OIW Frontend, but are simply part of the normal Excel functionality. These functions do not appear in the OIW-specific part of the Data menu. On the other hand some rarely used OIW-specific functions are only available from the menu, and not from the tool bar. These functions are marked (*) below.
