The use of Array Functions allows the OIW Frontend for Excel to ensure that the values displayed in the Result Area of a query are always up-to-date. This is the case even when you store worksheets containing query definitions. As soon as you load these worksheets again, the OIW Frontend for Excel will attempt to fetch current data from the R/3 System.

However, this effect is not always what is wanted, since the update action can lead to fairly time-consuming processing taking place in the R/3 System. Therefore the query update can be temporarily deactivated. This is described in the Manual and Automatic Query Recalculation section.

You also have the option of storing the current results of OIW queries in worksheets permanently, thus eliminating the active connections between the displayed data and the queries. This can be done using the Snapshot function, which you can apply either to a single query or to a complete worksheet:

In both cases a new workbook is automatically created and the result of the snapshot is stored there.
