Use

You can analyze the workload of SAP R/3 Systems and non-SAP R/3 systems in the global workload monitor. You can use various analysis views for SAP R/3 Systems, and various analyses for non-SAP R/3 systems.

An analysis always displays an aspect of the system load. One of these aspects is the question of how the load is distributed over the individual service types. A service type characterizes the type of processing of a request in a component; it can be compared to the task type in SAP R/3 statistics records. For example, there are the types Dialog, Background, and Update there.

The Internet Transaction Server, as the first DSR instrumentation, has the following service types:

Prerequisites

The Internet Transaction Server is currently the only non-SAP R/3 component type for which statistics records are written that can be analyzed in the global workload monitor. We plan to include other component types in the future.

Procedure

  1. Start the global workload monitor by calling transaction ST03G.
  2. In the Workload tree in the upper left subscreen, choose the component type and the components that you want to analyze. For more information about the structure of the workload tree, see Structure of the Workload Tree of the Global Workload Monitor.
  3. In the Analyses tree in the lower left subscreen, choose the Workload Overview option.
  4. The system displays an output area, in which the requested workload overview is displayed in an Structure linkALV Grid Control.

Result

The output area displays how the workload is distributed over the various service types. To obtain a description of a column, select the corresponding column and use the F1 help.

You can select how you want to display the workload using the tab pages:
