Zone

Definition

A zone is a physical location in a site dedicated to a specific function, such as general storage, work center, pick-up and drop-off point (P&D) or storage of empty pallets.

Use

In Customizing for Logistics Execution ® Task and Resource Management ® Master Data ® Site Map Management ® Define Zones, Operations and Serving Zones,, you can do the following:

Define zones, including work centers, serving zones (P&Ds) and empty pallet zones

Define the metric to be used for each zone. For more information on metrics, see Routing.

Assign operations and their durations to work centers

Define which zones are served by the P&Ds and empty pallet zones

In Customizing for Logistics Execution ® Task and Resource Management ® Master Data ® Site Map Management ® Define Nodes and Entries/Exits to/from Zones, you can define zone entry and exit nodes

In Customizing for Logistics Execution ® Task and Resource Management ® Master Data ® Site Map Management ® Define Zone Groups and Assign Zones, you can define zone groups to simplify the determination of routes and the definition of working areas.

The definition of zones in the site map facilitates routing and the prioritization of tasks. Navigation to and from a zone is determined by its assigned nodes.
