You can define empty pallet zones for a site in Customizing for Logistics Execution ® Task & Resource Management ® Master Data ® Site Map Management ® Define Zones, Operations and Serving Zones.

The definition of empty pallet zones can affect task creation:

1. If you define an empty pallet zone and assign to it an entry node, when a bundle of pick and pack tasks is created, the system will create an additional task that directs the resource to:

• Take an empty pallet
• Move with the empty pallet to the source of the first picking task (shown in blue in below picture)

2. By defining an empty pallet zone and assigning to it both entry and exit nodes, you can create other task activities besides picking (such as replenishments) using BAdI LTRM_TASK_POST_MODF.
