Use

Using the Priority Explanation tool, you can view the actual priorities calculated at task creation and task selection, including static priorities, as well as the calculations made by the system.

Prerequisites

While you can view task creation priorities for any created task, you can view task selection priority calculations only for tasks that have been selected in system-guided execution mode and where more than one task was retrieved from the task pool.

Display the task objects. For more information on displaying objects, see Using Basic Monitor Functions

To open the Priority Explanation tool from the hierarchy tree, right-click the icon to the left of a task object and choose Explain priority from the pop-up menu.

To open the Priority Explanation tool from the ALV tool bar, select a row corresponding to a task, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and choose Explain priority from the pop-up menu.

The Priority Explanation tool appears, displaying the Task entity as the highest level entity, with the Static, Task Creation and, if relevant, Task Selection entities directly underneath it.

Double-click the Static entity or right-click it and choose Expand from the pop-up menu.

Double-click the Task Creation entity or right-click it and choose Expand from the pop-up menu.

The Task Creation entity expands to reveal entities representing the various qualified resource types for which priorities were calculated at task creation. The total priorities are displayed in bold at the bottom of the entities.

Double-click the Task Selection entity or right-click it and choose Expand from the pop-up menu.

The Task Selection entity expands to reveal an entity representing the particular resource that selected the task. Its total priority is displayed in bold at the bottom of the entity. Both its name (displayed as a tool tip and in the status bar) and number are displayed, if it is logged on, while only the number is displayed if it is logged off.

To view the individual priorities of the entities making up the total static priority, double-click the static priority entity or right-click it and choose Expand from the pop-up menu.

To view the individual priorities of the entities making up the total task priority for a resource type, double-click the entity for a resource type or right-click it and choose Expand from the pop-up menu.

To view the individual priorities of the entities making up the total task priority for the resource, double-click the resource entity or right-click it and choose Expand from the pop-up menu.

The relevant priority model entity hierarchy appears, displaying the following information:

·        Priority value for each priority entity - displayed in bold at the bottom of each entity

·        Normalized weights – displayed on the connecting line above each entity

·        Weighted priority value – displayed above the normalized weights

To view the priority calculation for a priority entity, right-click the entity and choose Show Calculation

The Priority Calculation window appears, displaying how the priority value was calculated.
