Starting Single-Item, Multi-Level Planning

  1. Starting from the MRP node, choose Planning ® Single-item, multi-level.
  2. This takes you to the initial screen for single-item, multi-level planning.

  3. Enter the material number, for which you want to carry out single-item planning, and also the plant or planning area, in which you want to plan.
  4. If you want to plan for a product group, whose members are materials, enter the material number of the product group in the field Material and select the field Product group. The product group is then broken down by the planning. All members of the product group are planned, the relevant BOMs are exploded and the assemblies and components are planned.

  5. Specify the control parameters you desire for MRP (see Control Parameters for the Planning Run ).
  6. In single-item planning the creation indicators in the initial screen overwrite the creation indicators in the MRP group (see Creation Indicators in the Initial Screen and the MRP Group ).

If you want to save the parameters set in the initial screen, for the following planning, choose Settings ® Save. The parameters saved become the default for each following planning run.

  7. Specify the control parameters for the process.

If you select this field, the planning result is displayed and you can still make changes before you save it to the database. For more information, see Working with the Planning Result .

If you select this field, those components from existing and unchanged receipt elements are also planned.

In particular, all components from fixed receipt elements (such as planned orders, production orders, scheduling agreement schedule lines) are also planned.

With one material on any BOM level only fixed receipt elements are available, and these receipt elements are sufficient to cover requirements. If you reschedule one of these fixed receipt elements and if, after this change, the stock/requirements situation is still balanced, and there is no material shortage, the standard single-item, multi-level planning run no longer plans the lower-level assemblies and components. The rescheduling is forwarded to the dependent requirements or dependent reservations of the assemblies and components. The receipt elements for these requirements are not adjusted, however. The next total planning run automatically plans the assemblies and components again. If you select the field Also plan unchanged components in the multi-level single-item planning, you can also plan the assemblies and components directly.

This indicator is not relevant for consumption-based materials, as these are not planned with single-item, multi-level planning.

If you select this field you can call up a list of all materials planned from the runtime statistics, after planning (see Working with the Material List ).

If you select this field, the single-item, multi-level planning is carried out in simulation mode. All planning results are stored in the main memory and problems of lower-level BOM levels are visible on finished-product level (see Simulation Mode and Plan in Simulation Mode ).

  1. Choose .

The system displays the long texts explaining the settings selected.

  1. Check the settings and choose again.

Result

Single-item, multi-level planning is carried out for the material selected.

If you have not made any other settings in the control parameters, only the runtime statistics are displayed.

If you have selected Display results before saving, the planning result is displayed and can be used. After saving the planning result, the runtime statistics are displayed.

If you have selected Display material list, the runtime statistics are displayed and so is the button Materials. With this button you can call up the material list and make changes to the planning result, which you have already saved.

If you have selected Simulation mode, the material list is displayed and from here you can test the planning result for all materials before saving. After saving the planning result, the runtime statistics are displayed.
