Definition
A business partner is
in which business interests exist.
Use
SAP Treasury is based on the business partner concept. Transactions are concluded with business partners within Treasury. Banks or central treasury departments are examples of typical partners.
All existing business partner relationships can be represented as a tree structure and displayed and evaluated in the information system. To find the business partner reports, go to the Securities Information System and choose Information System ® Master Data ® Business Partner.
In the Securities area, you assign the roles issuer, depository bank, and counterparty to the business partner according to their functions.

If the issuer of a security does not exist as a business partner in the role of issuer, you cannot create the security as a class.
Structure
You define the business partner functions in the transaction using business partner roles, such as counterparty, issuer, payment bank, or depository bank. A business partner may have several roles.
You define the roles of a business partner by assigning a
Role Category. Depending on the role of the business partner, you can maintain certain
General Data and
Company Code Data screens in addition to the
Central Data and Extras. This enables you to enter all the relevant data for a business partner for the role. You can define
Standing Instructions for a business partner. If, for example, you always use the same bank details and Payment Details with a business partner for certain product types, this data can be added automatically. You make the role-view assignment in Customizing for the business partner by choosing Define Role-View Assignment. You can define Standing instructions for a business partner.
Relationships can exist between different business partners. You can represent these on the Relationships tab page.
Integration
You can edit the business partner in the Securities and the Basic Functions areas by choosing Master data ® Business partner.

Usages for the business partner:From the business partner data screen, you can display which objects, financial transactions, and loan contracts were assigned to the relevant business partner. To do this, choose Extras ® Usages. This Usages function is also available when you use the Inbound calls from business partners function via SAPphone (see below).
If a call comes in for a work center set up for SAPphone, the system identifies the business partner from the caller’s telephone number. A dialog screen appears on the work center, which the agent can use to display the business partner data of the caller. You can also branch to the
Usages of the business partner.
From the master data screen for the business partner, you can click the pushbutton next to a telephone number to start the call to the business partner.
