Commitment Item Group

Definition

Grouping of commitment items from an FM area for processing together.

Use

Commitment item groups are an aid to defining budget structures.

You can define a commitment item group either as year-dependent or as non-year-dependent. You use the year-dependent groups to define a year-dependent budget structure (annual BS). You use the non-year-dependent groups to define a non-year-dependent budget structure (overall BS) if you work with funds and overall values.

When defining a group, you specify the object function (budget object/posting object) of the commitment items contained in them. When defining a budget structure with group assignment, you assign the commitment item groups to the funds centers. When generating the budget structure, the system then automatically defines the objects for all the commitment items contained in the commitment item group in the respective funds center. Depending on the definition of the group and the corresponding definition of the budget structure, you can carry out central budgeting, or a mixture of central and local budgeting, in a simple and quick way.

If you have created a budget structure with group assignment and make subsequent changes to the object function in a commitment item group, this has an effect on all funds centers in the budget structure to which you have assigned this group.

Integration

A year-dependent commitment item group is valid until the group is defined for a new year based on new requirements. If a group has been defined for a number of fiscal years, the commitment item group, which either corresponds to the budget structure's fiscal year or to the fiscal year before that is, used for defining a year-dependent budget structure. Groups that are defined for future fiscal years cannot be used.

You define a year-independent commitment item group for the year 0000. Commitment item groups with the year 0000 can only be used in year-independent budget structures (overall BS).

For all years in which the budget structure is valid, the commitment item group, which was used when defining the budget structure, is the one that applies.

Commitment item group Group E has been defined for 1995 and 1997.

The budget structure for 1996 uses Group E that has been defined for 1995.

The budget structure for 1999 uses Group E that has been defined for 1997.

For fiscal years 1996 - 1998, the budget structure definition for 1996 is the valid one whereas the definition of Group E for 1995 is used in all years.
