Quality
Planning
This section describes the Customizing settings
for quality planning.
The term "Quality Planning" covers inspection
planning and its relevant basic data.
In the
Inspection Characteristic section, you can find additional
conceptual information on Customizing and how to maintain inspection
characteristic master records that can be applied to other master data
types.
In the
Inspection Planning section, you can find additional conceptual
information on procedures.
In the
Samples and SPC section, you can find specific conceptual
information on the planning of samples and statistical process control with
the help of control charts.
Activities
On the basis of the information gained when
creating the prototypes for your QM-supported business processes, define in
detail the maintenance of your master data and the related table
settings.
1. Select the
master data you need to use the R/3 QM component and define the logical
sequence in which this data is to be maintained.
a) Determine
which master data is needed to implement the required range of functions. If
you decide to carry out the implementation in stages, determine which master
data is required for these steps.
b) Indicate
which basic data is merged with other master data. Use this information to
establish a logical sequence for maintaining the master data.
2. Develop a
plan for maintaining the master data.
a) Define the
uses for the fields contained in the master data; in particular define the
nomenclatures for mnemonic keys and search fields if required. Check whether
the
search help must be adapted.
b) Estimate the
volume of the master data. If specific master data, for example,
inspection plans can be copied automatically from an existing
volume of data, prepare the tools available for transferring this
data.
c) Determine
who is responsible for maintaining the master data and what maintenance
capacities are available. Estimate the time and effort required to manually
maintain the master data. Allocate the available resources on the basis of the
data volume and the implementation schedules. Identify critical paths related
to scheduling.
3. Make sure
that following activities are completed on schedule:
a) Table
settings
b) Manual
maintenance of master data
c) Transfer of
data and manual follow-up maintenance
Further
Notes
In the R/3 System, quality planning results
(quality related planning in its entirety) are stored in the form of . There
are two different groups of master data:
This master data is
part of the QM component.
This data
includes:
-
Catalog (Selected sets at plant level)
- Info-record for a combination of material *
vendor (plant level)
- Info-record for a combination of customer *
sales organization or customer *
sales organization * material
This is master data
that is used by several R/3 components. Refer to the respective Implementation
Guides for these components for information on how to maintain this master
data and how to make the corresponding settings.
Master data for
central functions:
Master data from PP
and PP-PI components:
-
Document
- PRT master
record
Recommendation
: Coordinate the maintenance of the general,
integrating master data with the maintenance activities in the other R/3
components that have access to this master data.
