Select/Deselect (Function)

Ankreuzfeldern

Select/deselect is a function at task level the user can choose to change the select state of individual objects.

Using the Keyboard

If the user positions the cursor on a single object of the user interface (for example, a table structure) and chooses Select/Deselect, the entire object changes the select state : If it was not selected, it is selected now; if it was selected, it is deselected now. Such an object in a table is, for example, an individual field, an entire line or an entire column. A line in this case is an entire logical line, that is, both physical lines in two-line tables.

Using the Mouse

The user positions the pointer on an object and clicks the left mouse button. Then the entire object changes the select state : If it was not selected, it is selected now; if it was selected, it is deselected now (see Technical Notes).

The user can then initiate a function for a selected object with the function keys, menu options or pushbuttons. For example, Copy (Function), Move (Function) or Delete or Delete <object> (Function).

"Select Again"

There can be an optional function Select again which selects again all lines marked with "*". ("*" in a column before the Checkboxes (Control Element) indicates exactly those objects which have already been processed or viewed in detail.) (see Selection Methods - Overview)

Technical Notes

It is currently not possible to initiate a function by clicking the left mouse button. This function can therefore only be initiated with the keyboard.
