Sequencing

Use

Using this function you can plan the sequence in which you produce the planned orders on your production line per planning period and according to a certain planning process. The system carries out sequencing every time you access the sequence schedule.

If you have created sort buffers between the line segments, the sequence of the orders in the line segments may change. In the line hierarchy, you can select different processing profiles for partial lines which are separated by sort buffers. The settings in Line Design have priority over the settings in Customizing for Sequencing.

Features

The system determines all planned orders that lie in the period of examination and dispatches them as early as possible according to the process you defined in Customizing. You can choose one of the following processes:

When you access the sequence schedule, the system first assigns all new planned orders to the section of the screen entitled Orders not yet dispatched. Then you can select the planned orders using "drag and drop" and dispatch them to a production line.

The system uses the internal program, "first-in-first-out". Here, all planned orders for make-to-order REM are dispatched automatically on the basis of sales order number and item. Then the system dispatches the planned orders for make-to-stock REM on the basis of the planned order numbers. In this process, therefore, it is the time that you create the sales orders or planned orders that determines the sequence of the orders when dispatching. In this process, sales orders have the higher priority.

If you specified the FIFO process after a sort buffer on the production line, the planned orders leave the buffer in the same sequence as they arrived. Therefore, the sequence does not change in the sort buffer.

An external optimization or model-mix process is available by means of an interface (POI).

Via a user exit, you can link to a planning process of your own.
