Enhancements for parameter effectivity 

Description

Change objects

Up until now, you could only process BOMs with reference to a change number whose effectivity was defined by a parameter effectivity (for example, a serial number interval).
As of this release, you can also process the following objects in this way:

• Types of routing:

• Standard routings

• Reference operation sets

• Characteristics

• Characteristics of class

• Classification

Settings in the change master record (indicator for the object types) determine whether these objects can be maintained with parameter effectivity.
There are the following special features:

• Routings

You cannot set the object type indicators until you have set the object sub-types (see: release note General Maintenance Changes).

• Material

When you explode an assembly or finished product, you can assign values to the effectivity data for parameter effectivities. You control this in the general data in the material master record ( Value Assignment with Parameter Effectivity ).

Prioritizing Effectivity

You want to choose the change status that is effective for multiple changes with reference to change master rceords of the same effectivity type. You can control this in one of the following ways:

• If there are no additional settings in Customizing, the change that was made with reference to the change master record that was last created is taken as effective.

• If rank entry has been activated in Customizing, the rank must be maintained in the header data of the change master record. The object change that was made with the highest rank with reference to the change master record is taken as effective.

Trace Log

The trace log tells you under which conditions the object change statuses are effective. This clarification is particularly helpful for complex changes so that you can follow up why change objects with a specific change status were selected.

You can switch the trace log on and off user-specifically in the Engineering Change Management menu ( Environment -> Trace on/off).
When you have switched on the trace log, it is automatically displayed according to the values assigned to the effectivity parameters.

For example, the system displays whether the

Parameter effectivity is active indicator is set.

• Values Assigned to the Parameters

The system lists all the effectivity parameters that there is a value assignment for in the current processing situation.

• List of change numbers

The system lists all the change numbers that the object has been processed with and offers information on effectivity.
