Creating a Resource Hierarchy

Purpose

You use resource hierarchies to determine a total available capacity or the total capacity requirements for a number of resources.

In this process, you create resource hierarchies and assign resources to the hierarchy levels of the resource hierarchies.

Prerequisites

The resources used are already created in the system.

Process Flow

To create a resource hierarchy, the following is required:

  1. You must create a hierarchy.
  2. You can only do this in hierarchy maintenance.

  3. You must assign resources to the hierarchy and arrange the resources hierarchically.

You can do this in hierarchy maintenance and in resource maintenance.

In hierarchy maintenance

When you create or change a hierarchy, you can assign resources to the hierarchy. For more information on how to do this, see Creating Resource Hierarchies and Assigning Resources in Resource Maintenance.

To arrange the resources hierarchically, you must call up the hierarchy graphic. Here you can display and process the hierarchy structure.

In resource maintenance

When you create or change a resource, you can assign it to the hierarchy. When assigning a resource to a hierarchy, you must either define it as a hierarchy root or enter a superior resource. For more information, see Assigning Resources in Resource Maintenance.

You can only rearrange the resources in the hierarchy graphic, which you call up in hierarchy maintenance.
