Assigning Resources in Resource Maintenance

Prerequisites

You have created several resources and a resource hierarchy.

You can assign resources to hierarchies both in resource maintenance and in hierarchy maintenance.

For this reason, see also Assigning Resources in Hierarchy Maintenance.

Procedure

  1. Choose Hierarchy in resource maintenance.

This calls up the Hierarchy Relationships screen where the existing resource assignments to a hierarchy are displayed.

  1. Choose Edit ® New entries.
  2. Enter the plant and the key for the hierarchy to which you want to assign the resource.
  3. The Hierarchy Detail screen appears.

  4. To define a resource as a root, set the Root indicator. By doing this, you place the resource at the highest level of the hierarchy.
  5. A resource can only be defined as a hierarchy root if the hierarchy does not already have a root.

  6. If required, enter a superior resource.
  7. If you do not define the resource as the hierarchy root and you do not enter a superior resource, the resource will not be assigned to the hierarchy.

  8. Set the Stop explosion indicator.

You can use this indicator to specify that when cumulating available capacity starting with the resource for which the indicator is set, the hierarchy may not be exploded further downward. You may want to do this if, for example, the available capacity of this resource is to be larger than the cumulated available capacity of the subordinate resources.

If you have specified the hierarchy level up to which capacity cumulation is to take place and set the Stop explosion indicator in the resource, available capacities of this hierarchy branch will only be cumulated up to this resource.

  1. Choose .

Result

The resources are assigned to the hierarchy.

In the next step, you specify the hierarchy levels of the resources. For more information, see Assigning Resources to Hierarchy Levels.
