Use

Content usage mode: WSRP application sharing

Applies to: producers, consumers

If your portal is running SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment without usage type EP Core - Application Portal (EPC), ignore this topic and read Workflow: WSRP Application Sharing instead.

This topic describes the basic activities that must be performed by administrators on a producer and consumer portal to expose and consume WSRP-based applications.

For more information about this content usage mode, see 'WSRP Application Sharing' Mode .

Note

This content usage mode is intended to support the sharing of applications between an SAP NetWeaver Portal and a non-SAP portal. Technically, you can use it share content between two SAP NetWeaver portals; however, the remote role assignment and remote delta link modes are preferred. For more information, see 'Remote Role Assignment' Mode and 'Remote Delta Link' Mode .

Prerequisites
  • You have completed the post-installation and basic configuration steps on each portal. The portals must be fully operational.

  • You have fulfilled the minimal prerequisites for implementing FPN in your landscape. For more information, see Prerequisites .

  • The user bases of the portals adhere to the requirements described in User Persistence .

Process

The following workflows describe the sequence of basic activities performed by administrators in the following scenarios:

  • An SAP NetWeaver producer portal exposing its WSRP-compliant iViews to a non-SAP consumer portal.

  • An SAP NetWeaver consumer portal consuming WSRP portlets exposed by a non-SAP producer portal.

Workflow 1: SAP NetWeaver Producer & Non-SAP Consumer

Tasks Performed on the SAP NetWeaver Producer:

  1. Configure proxy settings .

  2. Set your root PCD folder for WSRP-based content requests .

  3. Create a registration password and assign Security Zone permissions .

  4. Create a registration user and password for the consumer .

    Note

A non-SAP consumer can now register with your portal. Before providing the consumer with the relevant logon information, you may want to first assign access permissions to your content.

  5. Set permissions to local folders and WSRP-compliant iViews and configure necessary iView properties .

A non-SAP consumer can register with your producer portal and integrate your exposed iViews as local WSRP portlets or SAP NetWeaver iViews, respectively.

Tasks Performed on the Non-SAP Consumer:

For information about the activities performed by a non-SAP consumer, refer to the documentation provided by the portal vendor.

Workflow 2: Non-SAP Producer & SAP NetWeaver Consumer

Tasks Performed on the Non-SAP Producer:

For information about the activities performed by a non-SAP producer, refer to the documentation provided by the portal vendor.

Tasks Performed on the SAP NetWeaver Consumer:

  1. Configure proxy settings .

  2. Create a WSRP Connection to a remote non-SAP producer .

  3. Assign administrator permissions to the WSRP producer object (optional).

  4. Check the producer alias .

  5. Test the connection to the remote non-SAP producer .

  6. Register your consumer portal with the remote non-SAP producer .

  7. Create proxy-to-portlet iViews .

  8. Assign proxy-to-portlet iViews to self-created pages and roles .

  9. Assign roles to users and groups .

  10. Assign end-user permission to producer object and local content .
