Testing the Connection to WSRP ProducersLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Content usage mode: WSRP application sharing

Applies to: consumers

Note

The functionality described in this topic does not apply to an SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment system without usage type EP Core - Application Portal (EPC).

You can use the System Connection Tests tool to check connectivity to the systems defined in the portal. The Producer Connection test allows you to check if your portal can connect as a consumer to a remote WSRP-compliant producer portal.

In detail, the following checks are performed:

  1. Checks if a valid producer object is available on your portal.

  2. Opens a connection to the handshake URL of the producer and checks if it can receive the designated WSDL file.

  3. Parses the WSDL file and checks if it can extract the ServiceDescription and Markup port definitions in the WSDL file necessary for a WSRP-based connection.

We recommend that you test the connection to a remote producer before you register with it in the Registration editor.

Prerequisites
  • You are assigned to the portal role that contains the Federated Portal workset. By default this is the System Administration role.

  • You have created a WSRP connection on the consumer portal. For more information, see Creating WSRP Connections to Producers .

  • You have been assigned at least administrator read-write permission to the producer object.

Note

The producer object may inherit the permission assigned to its parent folder in the Portal Catalog. For example, the WSRP Content Producers folder.

Procedure

Launching the System Connection Tests Tool

Do any of the following:

  • If you are currently editing the producer object of the WSRP connection, choose Connection Tests in the link bar.

  • If you are not editing the producer object of the WSRP connection, then do the following:

    1. In the consumer portal, navigate to Start of the navigation path System Administration Next navigation step Federated Portal Next navigation step  Non-SAP - WSRP Connections Next navigation step  Manage My WSRP Producers End of the navigation path.

    2. In the Portal Catalog, locate the producer object in the WSRP Content Producers folder.

    3. In the context menu of the object, choose Start of the navigation path Open Next navigation step Connection Tests End of the navigation path.

Testing a WSRP Connection

  1. Launch the System Connection Tests tool as described above.

  2. In the System Connection Tests table, choose the Producer Connection test.

  3. Choose Test .

  4. Review the test results in the Results pane.

If a connection test does not succeed, we recommend you check the following:

  • There are no problems with your portal, your network, or the producer portal.

  • The WSDL file is located in the folder provided by the producer (relevant to non-SAP producers only).

  • The WSDL file contains the mandatory WSRP information (relevant to non-SAP producers only).

  • The proxy service is running and correctly configured (see Configuring Proxy Settings ).
