Content usage mode: WSRP application sharing Applies to: consumers Note
The functionality described in this topic does not apply to an SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment system without usage type EP Core - Application Portal (EPC). |
This topic describes how to use the Registration tool in the portal to register your portal as a consumer with a remote WSRP-compliant producer portal.
Registration is a mandatory step for consumer portals before being able to use content exposed by a remote producer. Note that registration using the Registration tool is not the same as the formal WSRP-based registration that some non-SAP producer portals require. Nevertheless, when you register your portal with a consumer using this Registration tool, formal WSRP-based registration is performed if the producer requires it.
You can use the Registration tool to also do the following:
View the current registration status of your portal with remote producers.
Unregister your portal. For more information, see Unregistering Your Consumer Portal with WSRP Producers .
Before registering, you should check the connection to the remote producer using the System Connection Tests tool. For more information, see Testing the Connection to WSRP Producers .
You are assigned to the portal role that contains the Federated Portal workset. By default this is the System Administration role.
You have created a WSRP connection on the consumer portal. For more information, see Creating WSRP Connections to Producers .
You have been assigned at least administrator read-write permission to the producer object.
The producer object may inherit the permission assigned to its parent folder in the Portal Catalog. For example, the WSRP Content Producers folder.
You have the registration password of the producer.
Launching the Registration Tool
Do any of the following:
If you are currently editing the producer object of the WSRP connection, choose Producer Registration in the link bar.
If you are not editing the producer object of the WSRP connection, then do the following:
In the consumer portal, navigate to
.In the Portal Catalog, locate the producer object in the WSRP Content Producers folder.
In the context menu of the object, choose
. The Registration tool is displayed; the current registration status is shown.Registering Your Consumer Portal
Launch the Registration tool as described above.
In the Your Consumer Name box, enter the name of your portal. This name is sent to the producer upon registration and allows a system administrator to easily identify your portal from the remote system. For example, this name is displayed in the View My WSRP Producers tool in an SAP NetWeaver producer portal.
To register with the producer portal, your consumer name may need to be a unique name on the remote producer. If the consumer name you entered is already in use by a different consumer portal that is registered with the same producer portal, the registration may fail and you will be requested to enter a different name.
A producer may require that you provide additional information to register, such as a password. If so, the parameters are listed in the Registration Parameters table; enter any requested information in the table to continue.
The default registration password for an SAP NetWeaver producer portal is: password
Choose Register .
When you re-register an existing registration scope, the runtime functionality of any remote-based content that was generated on your consumer portal before you unregistered, is restored.
Your registration status is displayed in a message on the screen.
You can also view your status in the View My WSRP Producers tool. For more information, see Viewing Your WSRP Producers .
Reasons for not being able to register may be:
The WSDL service is not accessible (upon registration only) on the producer.
The portal server of the producer may be down.
There are problems with your network or that of the producer.
You entered an incorrect registration password.
