Use

The variance monitor is used to compare variances between actual data and planning data. Rules defined centrally by administrators or by users themselves specify threshold values for variances. Variances that exceed the defined thresholds are considered critical and listed in the monitor.

The monitor displays the total variance for each rule for all personalized objects (the absolute and percentage variance). When you select a rule, the system lists the details of which variance exists for which object. The user can then display in graphical or tabular form a period breakdown of the variance for an object.

When defining a rule, the administrator or user can, by setting the indicator Display Rule Violation as an Alert , determine that each variance that violates the rule generates an Alert in the Universal Worklist .

For information on additional functions and possible settings for the variance monitor, see Settings Options for the Monitor .

Integration

This iView only functions if it is called from a business package using a Delta Link and the application parameter monapp has been defined in the delta link. This specifies the object type (cost center, internal order, profit center) for which data is to be displayed.

The variance monitor is used in the following business packages:

  • Business Package for Manager Self-Service (mySAP ERP)

  • Business Package for Business Unit Analyst 2.0 (mySAP ERP)

Prerequisites

In personalization, you have defined which actual objects are relevant for each user of the monitor. You enter the personalization data in Customizing of the ERP system under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step General Application Functions Next navigation step Generic mySAP Suite Functions Next navigation step Personalization Next navigation step Personalization Data: Collective Processing End of the navigation path . A different personalization dialog is relevant for each object type. For more information, see Personalization (CA-GTF-SGF-FPB) .
