Settings Options for the Monitor

Use

In the following, you can find information on the settings an administrator or user of the Posting Monitor or the Variance Monitor can make for the monitor.

Features

Most of the monitor settings can be made either by the administrator centrally, or by the user of the monitor. The administrator makes the settings in Customizing, the user in the monitor itself. Both make the settings for a particular usage of the monitor in a particular business package.

Example Example

It is, for example, possible to make settings for the monitor for critical postings on cost centers in the Business Package for Manager Self-Service that are different from the monitor for critical postings on orders in the same business package, or for the monitor for critical postings on cost centers in the Business Package for Business Unit Analyst .

End of the example.

The administrator makes the settings for the monitor in the Implementation Guide (IMG) of the relevant business package. Here there are various IMG activities for different ways of using the monitor. You can find the Implementation Guide for the business packages in Customizing under Start of the navigation path Integration with Other mySAP.com Components Next navigation step Business Package/Functional Packages End of the navigation path .

The user requires special authorization for most settings, which the administrator can grant using particular personalization dialogs (in Customizing of the business packages or under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step General Application Functions Next navigation step Generic mySAP Suite Functions Next navigation step Personalization Next navigation step Personalization Data: Collective Processing End of the navigation path ). There are various personalization dialogs for the various uses of the monitor, beginning with the technical name DIA_PCD.

Settings Options

The following details the possible settings you can make for the monitor.

  • Personalize Data

Precisely which objects can be displayed to a user of the monitor is defined in Personalization . Personalization is effected for various uses of the monitor by the use of personalization dialogs.

The administrator carries out personalization in Customizing of the relevant business package. To find out which personalization dialog is relevant for a particular use of the monitor, see the documentation for the business package in which the monitor is being used.

Providing the user has the appropriate authorization, he can change the data personalized by the administrator by removing individual objects from personalization.

  • Edit Rules

The rules determine which postings are displayed in the monitor.

In business package Customizing, the administrator can create central administration rules for the various uses of the monitor, and copy them to individual or all users as necessary.

If a user has the corresponding authorization, he can define additional rules.

  • Update Data

For performance reasons, the system does not evaluate the rules online each time the monitor is accessed, but displays the data from a table. This table can be filled by the administrator using the rule evaluation in Customizing of the relevant business package.

If the user has the appropriate authorization, he can update the data in the table in the monitor by choosing Update Data .

  • Display Person Responsible

If the user has the appropriate authorization, the person responsible for the object (such as a cost center) is displayed for him in the monitor. The prerequisite for this is that the user name of the person responsible has been defined in the master data of the object.

  • Send Internal Service Request

It may be necessary to undertake an action due to a critical entry in the monitor. To enable such action, the administrator can define one or more scenarios for the Internal Service Request (ISR scenario) and group them in an ISR Scenario Group . This is executed in Customizing under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step Intranet/Internet Services Next navigation step Internal Service Request (ISR) Next navigation step Scenario Definition End of the navigation path . The administrator can assign an ISR scenario group user-specific to the monitors using the technical personalization dialog (beginning with DIA_PCD)

The ISR scenarios for the ISR scenario groups are available to the user via buttons in the monitor. When the user chooses a button, an interactive form is called up that has been defined within the ISR scenario. The form is displayed with the iView Service Request . By sending the form, the user starts the action defined in the ISR scenario, for example requesting an adjustment posting.
