You can define the functions that you want to appear in the application toolbar and function bar above the view area in the main display window (see Clinical Work Station Screen Layout).

Prerequisites

As described under Creating Views, if a function variant is not maintained for the view, standard variants are used.

  • If i.s.h.med is active, the system uses the i.s.h.med standard variants

  • If i.s.h.med is not active, the system uses the IS-H standard variants.

Name of standard function variant:

  • SAP&STANDARD (for IS-H)

  • SAP&STANDARDMED (for i.s.h.med)

Procedure

  1. Call the clinical work station.

    For information about this, see Calling Clinical Work Station/Care Unit Work Station or Calling Outpatient Clinic/Service Facility Work Station.

  2. Place the cursor on - (-) or - (-) to the left of the view whose function variant you wish to edit.

  3. In the context menu, choose Change View.

    The Change View dialog box appears.

When you delete a layout, the system performs a number of checks. For more information about this, see Delete Views, Variants/Layouts and Work Environments.
Additional Steps for Creating or Changing Function Variants

  1. The Create or Change Function Variant (<Name>) screen appears.

    A predefined set of functions is available based on the view type from where you call function variant maintenance. You can then create a specific function variant from this list of functions for the relevant view.

  2. The following functions can be used for creating the function variant:

    • Pushbutton (Pushbutton): Create function as a pushbutton

    • Function (Function): Shows function in a drop-down menu of a pushbutton

    • Separator (Separator): Inserts a separator line between pushbuttons/functions

  3. On the right half of the screen, you can see the function variants displayed in a tree structure (with all function attributes), and also as a button bar. This gives you control over how the function variants will be displayed in the care unit work station at all times.

  4. Select the position in the displayed function variant where you want to insert the new function.

    If there are not yet any functions in the variant, the new function is automatically inserted in the first position.

  5. Select the required function in the function list, and then choose either Pushbutton (Pushbutton) or Function (Function). A pushbutton or a function in the drop-down menu is inserted in the position you selected earlier in the function variant.

  6. If you double-click on the new function in the function variant, you can edit the function attributes. You can change the pushbutton/function text, assign a different symbol or change the help text shown. You can also enter a quick info. In the field to the right of the Quick Info field, you can assign function keys from CTRL+F1 to CTRL+F12 from the value help. You have to confirm these changes by choosing Continue (Continue).

    Pushbuttons must have an icon.

  7. In addition, you can assign exactly one function the attribute Double-click.. This means that in the corresponding view, a double-click on a line (for example, a certain patient) calls this function. Confirm these changes with Ok.

    Drag & Drop enables you to rearrange functions and pushbuttons within the function variant.

  8. When you exit function variant processing, the system prompts you to save your changes. When you select a name, ensure that it is not a name reserved by SAP ("S*").

Result

The function variant you have changed is available in the views to which it is assigned.
