Outpatient Clinic/Service Facility Work Station
The outpatient clinic/service facility work station is variant of the Clinical Work Station. The outpatient clinic/service facility work station supports the work of the outpatient clinic or of the service facility in ergonomic form.
Users or user groups can be provided with predefined patient lists as a starting point for their daily work.
For information that applies to all instances of the Clinical Work Station, see Clinical Work Station.
The Outpatient Clinic/Service Facility
view type lets you model an integrated work station for outpatient clinics and service facilities that provides support for users in all forms of outpatient organizations.
The range of possibilities available to you on the outpatient clinic/service facility work station, depends on whether you use only IS-H or also i.s.h.med in your hospital. With the IS-H System, the Outpatient Clinic/Service Facility
view type satisfies the requirements of outpatient clinics (appointment processing and visit overview); with the i.s.h.med system, it satisfies the requirements of service facilities (electronic requests, planning) and various hybrid forms of these types of organization.
Caution
If you do not use i.s.h.med, any fields that read data from services are not filled in the IS-H system
In the IS-H system, the Outpatient Clinic/Service Facility
view type displays provisional appointments and outpatient visits. In i.s.h.med, it also displays patient preregistrations, requested, planned and performed medical services.
Note
If you link an existing provisional appointment to an outpatient visit, the system will only display the outpatient visit.
As in the other specifications of the Clinical Work Station (Care Unit Work Station, for example), this data is displayed in tabular form.
The Service Facility/Outpatient Clinic
view type provides a range of flexible sorting and filter options. In fact, you can sort and filter the table using any of the fields in the field list. The other processing options of the clinical work station are available to you.
For more information, see Clinical Work Station and the sections thereafter.
Functions and Processes
The system supports the following functions and processes for Outpatient Clinic Management in the IS-H System:
Patients with provisional master data
Patient admission
Appointment scheduling
Management of visits/visit overviews
Deregistration of patients
Note
If you use i.s.h.med, diagnosis documentation, service documentation, medical documentation, the patient organizer and long-term patient preregistration is also available to you.
Users can personalize their views. For more information about this, see Personalize Layout (User).
Outpatient Clinic Support: Scenario
Provisional appointments and patient's outpatient clinic visits are the main focus in a typical outpatient clinic. When an appointment is scheduled and the patient is admitted, the patient is put on the outpatient clinic’s waiting list. At this point in time, though, it is not necessarily known what course of treatment the patient will require, or indeed what future course of action will be pursued for the patient.
The main elements of the outpatient clinic/service facility work station are:
Booking appointments
Patient admission
Registration of patients
Admission of outpatients for inpatient treatment
Arrange follow-up visits for patients using integrated appointment scheduling
