Function documentationMaterial Entry for Surgeries

You use the material consumption documentation to enter the material required for a surgery. However, in the Surgery system the material is not connected with the individual service but to the surgery itself.

Activities

Material Entry Without MM Integration

You enter the material consumption using Material Entry Without MM Integration.

You call material entry in the surgery monitor or in the Surgery work station. You select the Material Entry entry for the main surgery.

For surgeries, the system connects the material with the surgery. It is not possible to end material entry during service release, as a surgery is not released due to the release of the individual surgery services. Therefore, you also cannot end material entry.

Note Note

The system does not take into account the institution-related, time-independent parameter N1QUTIME (determines the time until which the entered material can be changed) within the framework of surgeries.

End of the note.
Material Entry With MM Integration

Material entry with MM integration consists of the following parts:

  • Material entry

You enter the material consumption using Material Entry With MM Integration.

You call material entry in the surgery monitor or in the Surgery work station (using a surgery task). In the surgery monitor select the Material Entry entry for one of the following areas of the surgery or, in the Surgery work station, the corresponding surgery task from the task list.

    • Main surgery

    • Any secondary surgeries

    • Anesthesia as an overall term for the anesthesia services

You can enter materials for each of the areas within the framework of a surgery.

  • Ending Material Entry

It is not possible to end material entry during service release, as a surgery is not released due to the release of the individual surgery services.

However, material entry must be ended so that the consumed material can be billed and booked from the stockroom. You must explicitly end the material entry in the Surgery system. You must end it for each area of the surgery for which material was entered.

Alternatively, in the surgery monitor, select the menu option Start of the navigation path Clinical Documentation Next navigation step End Material Entry End of the navigation path.

If you have not selected a Material Entry entry for the surgery, material entry for the main surgery is ended. The system displays whether material entry is ended for an area of the surgery, by displaying the entry as Material Entry (Ended).

When material entry is ended the system bills the material and books from the stockroom according to the customizing settings.

    Note Note

The institution-related, time-independent system parameter N1QUTIME controls the time until which the entered material can be changed.

    End of the note.
