Function documentationDay-Based Planning Based on Quotas

The day-based planning function provides you with a compressed overview of the future free capacity of an organizational unit (OU) with regard to the admissions and medical services to be planned.

Day-based planning is also possible for order items without services.

In areas where long-term planning is necessary (e.g. inpatient admissions, surgeries) you must first determine the day of admission, treatment or surgery. Day-based planning is used for this.

Note Note

The precise OR plan with entries for rooms, teams and planned times and sequence numbers is usually created at short notice, i.e. the day before the surgery.

End of the note.

You call the day-based planning when creating or changing a preregistered order item of a clinical order, from the Preregistrations view on the care unit work station or the service facility/outpatient clinic work station or from the clinical order.

You can also call day-based planning directly from the clinical order.

Caution Caution

The system does not support the day-based planning of cyclical services.

End of the caution.

The system synchronizes the time slots in the planning tools in the same way as SAP Patient Management. In the display of time slots the planning tools react to short-term changes to the time slots such as, for example, the locking of a room. The system therefore displays the current state of the time slots.

Features

The day-based planning is divided into the following areas:

  • Worklist:

The worklist (incoming list) displays patients with their clinical order items, for whom an appointment must be assigned.

  • Overview of Planned Days:

Below the worklist, the day-based planning function displays a list of the days on which admission or surgery/treatment appointments are already planned. If you open a day, the system will display the patients who are planned for that day.

  • Day Grid:

When planning admissions, the daily planning grid displays the care units which can admit patients, based on the occupancy capacity and planned inpatient occupancy.

    Note Note

If you use the clinical system (i.s.h.med) the daily planning grid will also display a long-term overview of free capacity for treatments or "treatment categories" for surgeries (e.g. major, minor surgeries).

    End of the note.

You can configure the size of the worklist, planned days overview and daily planning grid. You simply drag the separators between the elements to the desired position. The positions will be retained when you call the day-based planning function and after your current session has finished.
