You can specify fill sources for the drug or edit the assignment of drugs to the selected fill source. Furthermore you can create or edit the assignment of subordinate drugs to fill sources.

In this regard you should also note that you can control a connection to Materials Management using the drug master and the definition of fill sources.

Procedure

  1. To assign drugs to fill sources select the SAP Easy Access menu option Start of the navigation path Clinical System Next navigation step Basic Clinical Data Next navigation step Medication Next navigation step Drug Master Next navigation step Drug – Fill Source Assignment End of the navigation path.

    Alternatively, you can call the drug assignment function on the initial drug management screen by choosing Maintain Fill Sources.

    You can also call the assignment to fill source function in the fill source entry table on the Storage tab page in the drug master by selecting the Maintain pushbutton with the quick info text Maintain Fill Source.

  2. A dialog box appears where you can enter a fill source.

    Enter a fill source and choose Continue (Continue).

    The system will check whether this fill source is used by several institutions and whether all these institutions use the same internal drug catalog (acc. to system parameter N1MEN1DC). If this is the case, the system will use the corresponding drug catalog for the drug assignment. Otherwise, a dialog box appears where you can enter the institution.

    The Fill Sources screen appears.

  3. In the Assigned Drugs group box the system will display any drugs which are already assigned to the selected fill source. Moreover you can determine an indicator for the care unit fill source, e.g. always from the care unit.

    • To assign new drugs, choose Assign New Drugs (Assign New Drugs). You access the drug search from which you can transfer the drugs from the results list into the entry table for assigned drugs.

    • If you wish to delete assigned drugs from the entry table, select the entries and choose Delete Row (Delete Row).

    • If you wish to display or enter the subordinate drugs for an assigned drug from the entry table, choose Select Drug (Select Drug) in the row of the corresponding entry.

  4. In the Subordinate Drugs group box the system displays any subordinate drugs for the drug currently selected in the entry table for assigned drugs. See Assigning Subordinate Drugs

    • To assign subordinate drugs to the fill source, choose Assign New Drugs (Assign New Drugs). You access the drug search from which you can transfer the subordinate drugs from the results list into the entry table for assigned drugs.

    • If you wish to enter the system date and/or time as the start/end date or time, select the Set Start or Set End pushbutton.

    • If you wish to delete subordinate drugs from the entry table of subordinate drugs, select an entry and choose Delete Row (Delete Row).

As an alternative to the assignment described in the i.s.h.med basic clinical data, you can also assign a drug to a fill source using an external program (e.g. pharmacy system) via an RFC function. The RFC function ISHMED_ME_PHL_ADJUST_FSOURCE in function module N1ME_PHL_RFC is available for this.

The identification of the fill source for the organizational unit (OU) is then made in the calling external program using the departmental and nursing OU.

The drug can be identified in the calling external program as follows:

  • using the catalog ID of the drug in the external drug catalog in use

  • using a general parameter of the drug (name and value of parameter)

  • using the material number of the drug in the materials management system (MM)
