Agents Tab Page

On the Agents tab page you enter and manage the agents in relation to the reference dose.

The system transfers the reference dose displayed here from the Presentation tab page for standard drugs, from the Ingredients tab page for mixed drugs (except drug kits).

The reference dose is only used to inform which dose the system determined and calculated the assigned agents for and is not ready for input.

You must flag one agent as the standard agent for dosage for each drug. The system will propose this standard agent when dosing agents in the medication order.

You can also enter an equivalent agent for an agent. The Agent Role determines whether an agent is used as an equivalent.

Example Example

A drug contains 120 mg morphine sulphate as the standard agent ("Agent" agent role and Standard Agent for Dosing indicator, and 90 mg morphine as the equivalent agent (agent role: "Equivalent" for morphine sulphate).

For standard and mixed drugs, the system will set the Standard Agent for Dosing indicator for the first agent in the agent table when assigning agents, if the agent has the "agent" or "equivalent" agent role. The system will only set the standard agent indicator for the equivalent if the referenced agent has the "agent" role.

Activities

For standard drugs (and standard infusions), choose (Add New Row) in order to be able to enter agents for this drug. To enter an agent, select the agent from the input help and supplement the necessary data (e.g. agent role).
For mixed drugs, choose (Collect Agents), so that the system determines the agents from the ingredients (see Ingredients Tab Page) and transfers them to the agent table.
In the agent table you can only enter or change values for the fields for quantities and quantity units. The remaining fields are not ready for input.

When collecting the agents of the ingredients the system checks whether all ingredients are activated. If this is the case the system deletes all existing agent assignments and determines the agent assignment again using the ingredients.

Note

The system will automatically collect and determine the agents as soon as you activate the drug and if you change the ingredients of a drug which has already been saved and exit the Ingredients tab page.

Note that you can no longer change the information on the corresponding entered agent (e.g. the quantity of the drug) once you have activated the drug.

Caution
In case of mixed drugs, the system determines the agents of the assigned ingredients and, if necessary, rounds these up. If you have assigned an agent as the "agent" in various ingredients and as the "equivalent" the next time, the system will determine this agent as the "agent" role for the mixed drug and reject the equivalent entry.

For drug kits the system may determine the agents without calculating corresponding quantities, if a drug kits consists of several drugs which, in turn, contain several ingredients. If the ingredients of these drugs contain the same agents, but in different agent roles and quantities, this nested information and the various agent roles mean that it would not make sense, for performance reasons, to calculate here. The system transfers the agents from the ingredients of all drugs of the drug kit into the agent table, but will not preset the quantities.
