Procedure

You define standard cycles in the Implementation Guide under Start of the navigation path Industry-Specific Component Clinical System Next navigation step Medciation Next navigation step Cross-Application Settings Next navigation step Set Up Cycle End of the navigation path.

You should note that, in addition to the definition of standard cycles, you must also define Settings and Authorizations for Cycles.

  1. You access the cycle overview, which lists all defined standard cycles. From the cycle overview, you can execute the following functions:

    • New Cycle (New Cycle)

    • Create/Change Cycle Definition (Create/Change Cycle Definition )(for existing cycles)

    • Display Cycle Definition (Display Cycle Definition )(for existing cycles)

    You can also

    • Sort the cycle overview in descending (descending) or ascending (ascending) order

    • Find (Find) in the cycle overview

    • Set a Filter (Filter) for the cycle overview

    • Select or change a general or user-specific Layout (Layout) of the cycle overview, etc.

  2. Choose New Cycle (New Cycle).

    The system creates a new row with proposed values in the cycle overview.

  3. Enter the necessary data, such as the cycle description, cycle text, priority and purpose of the cycle for nursing care support, for the medical services and/or for the medication order.

    You should note that the cycle description (code) should be different from existing cycle descriptions.

    You can also assign a group to the cycle. The system structures the input help for cycles using the group assignment of the cycles.

    If you do not enter a priority, the system will assign the highest priority, i.e. 0, as standard. Cycles of the same priority are sorted in alphabetical order in the input help in the nursing plan.

  4. Then choose Create/Change Cycle Definition (Create/Change Cycle Definition) and enter the necessary data.

    A cycle must consist of at least one cycle definition. You can therefore only save the cycle master data once you have entered the cycle definition when creating.

    The entered quantity is used to propose the service quantity for medical and nursing services or as the multiplier for the individual dose defined in the order.

    Using the Deletion indicator you can declare that cycle definitions are invalid. If you set the deletion indicator of all cycle definitions of a cycle, you define the entire cycle as invalid. The system will display an invalid cycle in light blue in the cycle overview.

    Using the From Day, To Day, Time Interval in Days, From Time, To Time, and Every … Hours or Every … Minutes (e.g. every 20 minutes) you control the appointments in a cycle. If you leave To Day blank, the system will interpret the cycle as open, i.e. that the cycle is always valid beginning with the From Day.

    Using the Mo-Su checkboxes you define the weekdays on which appointments should take place. The system will only determine appointments in service management or in nursing care support, if they fall on the checked weekdays or public holidays.

    You can define cycles with a multi-day fixed interval, which is longer than 24 hours.

    If you call the Overview function, you can display the calculated times in cycle report form.

  5. You can use the Time Span Hour(s) to define a time span for cycles, where the determination of a precise execution time is not necessary.

    You should note:

    • The system will continue to use the time entered in the cycle as the time of the service or the medication event.

    • The time span should not exceed the specified interval, as otherwise execution overlappings may occur (e.g. administration of drug every 3 hours with simultaneous time span of 6 hours).

    • The time span has no further influence over the actual service performance or administration.

      In Medication you can use this time span for customer-specific checks in the Business Add-In (BAdI) N1ME_READ_PARAM, concerning possible timeouts in administration.

    By defining a time span you can also map the normal execution times specifically for an organizational unit (OU) by simply defining a cycle.

    Example Example

    In the OU STATION1 the morning administration rounds usually take place at 8am, in the OU STATION2 these are at 9am. Define a cycle which both OUs can use which specifies the earliest time of administration (8am) and also contains a time span (1 hour).

  6. For the Medication module you can also determine individual times and therefore define irregular cycles.

  7. You can also define day-based cycles for simplified dose definition.

    Select the Day-Based Cycle checkbox in the cycle definition. In this way you can only determine the weekdays and the day-specific interval (e.g. every 2 days).

    Note Note

    You should note that you can only use the Day-Based Cycle checkbox if the cycle is only determined for medication orders. The cycle cannot be selected as a cycle for medical or nursing services.

    For cycles with a selected Day-Based Cycle checkbox, you can only create a cycle definition.

  8. For each cycle you can define several cycle entries. The sum of all appointments is constructed from all cycle entries. Choose Further Cycle Definition (Further Cycle Definition).

  9. For the medication module you can also determine a future or retroactive time interval (in minutes).
