Update ModelThe update model is used both in filling and in distribution. The data in the period prior to the selection date is not changed in the target system and the data from the selection date onward is changed. During the course of the data formatting process, the system generates a change number for the selection date. The data records are split and the old data is matched up to the new data. The system matches up the data according to the checkbox structures in the target system that you set in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management
.
By means of the update model, the system fills the dangerous goods master
with dangerous goods basic data from the specification database
and distributes dangerous goods master records from one source system to one or more target systems.
Filling
In order to be able to start the filling within an SAP system, you have done the following:
Checked whether dangerous goods basic data exists
Performed the required Customizing activities
Distribution
In order to be able to distribute dangerous goods master records, you have done the following:
Created dangerous goods master records
Performed the required Customizing activities
Note
For checking purposes, you can start a simulation of filling or a simulation of distribution.
The following update scenario is intended only as an example and does not correspond to a valid dangerous goods regulation.
You have created and edited a dangerous goods master record for material MAT01 and for dangerous goods regulation ADR in the source system. An identical data record already exists in the target system with the same key (MAT01 and ADR). In the source system, you have changed the values in the Emergency temperature (EMTMP) and Control temperature (COTMP) fields and you now want to make the same changes in the target system using distribution. In Customizing for the target system, the Update
indicators are set for the EMTMP and COTMP fields for the ADR regulation. As the selection date for distribution, you have chosen 12/05/2000.

The system makes a data record split on the selection date. If the field contents of the change statuses that were generated were identical, the change statuses in the system for the target object would be merged back together. However, since the field contents are different, the system updates the two change statuses that were generated.
Note
When filling or distributing, a log is generated in the system of the target object. You can display or delete this log.
Generation of Change Numbers
The update model generates change numbers for the selection date if no existing change numbers are found in the system.
The source object data is updated in the target system. The distributed data records are split in the target system at the selection date.
