Parameter: AUDIT_OBJECT_ACTIVATION

Definition

The enablement or disablement of the Object Snapshot Recording subfeature to conform to the required security and auditing level

Description and Use

To manage the auditing and control level of your system landscape, this system parameter enables (default) or disables the Object Snapshot Recording subfeature and functions of the Data and Operation Auditing feature. When enabled, the SAP CC system records copies of data objects that it creates, modifies, or deletes. The system stores these object snapshots to the back-end database system.

This technical feature supports most of the data object types defined in SAP Convergent Charging:

  • Master data configured for a service provider and its marketable services
    • Data objects in pricing catalogs of the customer service to monetize (incl. charge plans and refill plans, pricing macros, and business data tables)
    • Customer master data (in high volume) such as subscriber accounts, contracts, and subscriber mapping tables
  • Business data and custom data (currencies, public holidays, data conversion mapping) configured at system level and shared by all the objects in all the pricing catalogs
  • Technical data (SAP CC users, custom audit filters)

As of SP 2, you can fine configure the categories of auditable data objects. See the AUDIT_OBJECT_DOMAIN system parameter for more information about the available audit domains.

Refer to the SAP CC Application Help (aka SAP CC Library) for the complete list of data objects that can be audited and for more information about the audit features, functions, and detailed mechanisms in SAP Convergent Charging.

Caution

The auditing functions and generated recordings may significantly impact the performance of the whole SAP CC system. You manage the data volume of audited information by:

  • defining the audit domains that fulfill your technical and business requirements
  • sizing or resizing the database
  • planning archiving and purging regularly

Recommendation

SAP recommends that you use the default system settings and that you optimize your implementation (definition of the expected audit domains, sizing). You plan the purge operations of the out-of-date records from the back-end database system.

Refer to the implementation and Customizing activities.

Implementation, Customizing, and Configuration

Depending on the business and technical requirements, the implementation project team determines the appropriate parameter values. Refer to Core Server Configuration of the Technical Features in the SAP CC Configuration Guide.

An immediate change is possible but is temporary. When it is relevant, change the permanent settings used by the SAP CC Core Server system when it restarts.

Use the Admin+ user interface to change the runtime values or the permanent values of this system parameter in an instance of the SAP CC Core Server system or in multiple instances.

Groups
Instance Type This system parameter is only available in the following type of instances in a running SAP CC Core Server system:
  • updater
Default Value (Factory Settings)

The predefined default value is:

Instance Type Value
Updater true

You can use a default value to reset the runtime value or the restart value (persistent) in the Admin+ user interface.

Note

A default value is part of the factory settings of the SAP CC Core Server systems. It differs from the original value set during the installation or after the Customizing activities.

In Admin+, you can reset a parameter value to this default value, but it is not recommended:

  • This value may differ from the original value set during the installation of your SAP CC system.
  • Note that it may also differ from the value defined by the implementation project team and set during the Implementation Phase of the integration project.
Verify the values in your running SAP CC systems before to use the reset command.
