Parameter: AUDIT_ACTIVATION

Definition

The enablement or disablement of the User Operation Auditing feature to conform to the required security and auditing level

Description and Use

To manage the auditing and control level of your system landscape, this system parameter enables (default) or disables the User Operation Auditing feature and functions in the running SAP CC Core Server system. The SAP CC system automatically audits a customized selection of user operations requested via the Web Services and HCI technical interfaces.

As of SP 2, you fine configure the categories of auditable user operation. See the AUDIT_DOMAIN system parameter for more information about the available audit domains.

As an IT administrator, this technical feature allows you to track and view performed or failed operations requested by your SAP CC users (individual users and service users).

Refer to the SAP CC Application Help (aka SAP CC Library) for more information about the audit features, functions, and detailed mechanisms in SAP Convergent Charging.

Caution

The auditing functions and generated recordings may significantly impact the performance of the whole SAP CC system. You manage the data volume of audited information by:

  • defining the audit domains that fulfill your technical and business requirements
  • sizing or resizing the database
  • planning archiving and purging regularly

Recommendation

SAP recommends that you use the default system settings and that you optimize your implementation (definition of the expected audit domains, sizing). You plan the purge operations of the out-of-date records from the back-end database system.

Refer to the implementation and Customizing activities.

Note that this User Operation Auditing feature enriches the Data Object Auditing feature by associating each object change log with the audit information of the corresponding audited user operation. It uniquely identifies the SAP CC users.

Implementation, Customizing, and Configuration

Depending on the business and technical requirements, the implementation project team determines the appropriate parameter values. Refer to Core Server Configuration of the Technical Features > System Settings for the System and Data Auditing in the SAP CC Configuration Guide.

Category Parameter
Type Boolean
Access (RO/RW)

RW(+): Dynamic Read / Static and Dynamic Write

An immediate change is possible but is temporary. When it is relevant, change the permanent settings used by the SAP CC Core Server system when it restarts.

Use the Admin+ user interface to change the runtime values or the permanent values of this system parameter in an instance of the SAP CC Core Server system or in multiple instances.

Groups
Instance Types This system parameter is available in the following types of instances in a running SAP CC Core Server system:
  • updater, rater, guider, bulkloader, taxer, dispatcher
Default Values (Factory Settings)

The predefined default values are:

Instance Type Value
Updater true
Rater true
Guider true
Bulkloader true
Taxer true
Dispatcher true

You can use a default value to reset the runtime value or the restart value (persistent) in the Admin+ user interface.

Note

A default value is part of the factory settings of the SAP CC Core Server systems. It differs from the original value set during the installation or after the Customizing activities.

In Admin+, you can reset a parameter value to this default value, but it is not recommended:

  • This value may differ from the original value set during the installation of your SAP CC system.
  • Note that it may also differ from the value defined by the implementation project team and set during the Implementation Phase of the integration project.
Verify the values in your running SAP CC systems before to use the reset command.
