Assigning Parameters

Use

In the new variant maintenance wizard, you use this variant maintenance step to assign parameters of one of more test data containers (TDCs) to the test configuration.

Prerequisites

You have performed the step Selecting Test Data Containers.

Activities

In the window for this process step, the parameters of the test configuration are displayed on the left, and the parameters of the assigned test data containers on the right.

To assign TDC parameters to the test configuration, proceed as follows:

  1. Select one of the assignment options:

    • By Name

      When assigning by name, similar names are suggested as proposals.

    • By Data Type

    • By Name and Data Type

    • Manually

      To assign manually, select the parameter or parameters and choose Manually or simply drag the parameters to the relevant fields.

    Unless you select Manually, a list is displayed containing the parameters with suitable names and/or data types that can be assigned. If there are parameters with the same names in multiple TDCs, the selection options are summarized using the file icon.

  2. In the displayed selection list, select the parameter assignment (unless you have used the Manually option).

    The relevant assignment is displayed in the left subwindow.

    You also have the following options:

    • Show Structure

      If the data type is structured, you can use this option to display the structure.

    • Remaining Parameters/Unused Parameters

      For a better overview, you can use these options to display only unassigned parameters.

    • Layout

      You can use the layout to display additional columns, such as the default value of the parameter or its reference.

Result

You have now assigned TDC parameters to test configuration parameters. The next step depends on whether one or more TDCs are assigned to the test configuration.
