Subdividing Master Data You can use this function to subdivide
Funds Management
master data – commitment item, funds center, fund and functional area - into a number of fields in substrings. If you subdivide your master data, you can save complex master data in your system.
Subdivided master data is processed like non-subdivided master data in the system.
However, if you implement other components in addition to
Funds Management
, note the following for the subdivision of funds centers and commitment items:
The account assignment elements funds center and commitment item cannot be assigned manually in many components, for example:
Human Resources (HR):
Travel Management
(FI-TV)
CO (Controlling)
Treasury (CFM and CML)
Real Estate
(RE)
This means that the funds center and commitment item and, if applicable, the substrings of these account assignment elements, must be derived from other account assignment elements, for example, the cost element or cost center using Funds Management account assignment derivation .
In order to guarantee this derivation, it may be necessary to create the account assignment elements in other components so that they reflect the function of the subdivision.
If, for example, the substring of a commitment item represents the region and this substring should be derived from the cost center, you have to structure your cost center so that a cost center corresponds to a region.
We recommend that you define these substrings as user-specific fields in the master data of the account assignment elements used for the derivation (for example, the cost element or cost center).
You can find an example of account assignment derivation which includes derivation from master data of other account assignment elements under Example: Derivation Strategy for German Local Authorities.
Before you can subdivide master data in your system, the structure of the subdivision must be defined in Customizing of
Funds Management
where the fields can be divided into different numbers of substrings, each according to master record. The master data subdivision must also be activated. You use the following IMG activities to do this:
Create and define subdivision ID
Activate Subdivision
You can divide the fields into different numbers of substrings, according to each master record.
Master record |
Maximum number of substrings |
|---|---|
Commitment item |
5 |
Funds center |
3 |
Fund |
2 |
Functional area |
3 |
There is a special transaction for each substring in the master data menu of
Funds Management
which you can use to fill the substrings with the values defined in Customizing. You can find more information under
Creating Substrings for the Subdivision of Master Data
.
Use the transactions of the master record to create a master record in which you can combine the substrings you defined when master data subdivision is active.
