Creating Substrings for Subdividing Master Data

Prerequisites

If you want to create substrings for subdividing master data, the number of substrings in which the master record can be divided must be defined in the Customizing of Funds Management in IMG activity Define Substrings For Each FM Account Assignment Element as well as the length of the substring and the position it is to have in the master record.

You can use the functions listed below in accordance with these settings:

Procedure

To call up the individual functions in the table, choose Start of the navigation path Accounting Next navigation step Public Sector Management Next navigation step Funds Management Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Tools Next navigation step Account Assignment Elements Next navigation step Subdivision End of the navigation path from the SAP Easy Access Menu.

Edit substring 3 of functional area

Start of the navigation path Funds center Next navigation step Maintain Substring 3 (Tr.FRFNSUB3) End of the navigation path

Result

You can create your master data once you have created the substrings. You use the appropriate transactions of the master record in which you can combine the substrings you created when master data subdivision is active.

Copying Substrings

You can copy substrings using the following transactions:

FMMDCICOPY Copy substrings of commitment items

FMMDFCCOPY Copy substrings of funds centers

FMMDFDCOPY Copy substrings of funds

FMMDFNCOPY Copy substrings of functional areas

Define Separator for Substrings

If you intend to use separators in your account assignment elements between the substrings (slash, hyphen, or period), you must define this in IMG activity Activate Subdivision .
