Function documentationDetermination of Simulation Parameters for Planning Scope

The product structure selected in the planning scope, in other words the product entry, includes all variants and change states of this structure. You can use simulation to configure the explosion of the product structure that you use in the planning scope.

The simulation takes into account object dependencies and change control parameters. You can filter the display according to certain criteria, in other words, you can restrict the planning scope as follows:

  • To a particular substructure, using the point of entry

  • To a specific configuration

  • To a specific change state, with date effectivity and parameter effectivity

  • To a particular variant status, such as Released for Planning

Note Note

  • The system automatically creates a simulation for every version (see Working with Versions of the Planning Scope).

  • The system automatically activates the loaded simulation (construction/ without plant / current date) when the planning scope is loaded. You cannot deactivate it.

  • The system does not save the simulation automatically.

  • The system only takes activated simulations into account during explosion of the product structure.

If you do not activate a simulation, the system continues to use the previous simulation to explode the product structure.

  • You can change the simulation. As soon as you have activated the simulation, the system uses this last-activated simulation for the next product structure explosion, regardless of whether you have saved the simulation or not.

  • If you create, save, and activate a further version, the system overwrites the previous simulation and uses the simulation that was saved and activated last to explode the product structure.

End of the note.

Features

To create a simulation for planning scope, you can make the following settings:

  • Simulation name and description, authorization

The system copies the simulation name from the planning scope, and supplements it with the version number and an internal number. You can create multiple versions for a planning scope, whereby the system creates a new simulation for each version. The system assigns consecutive numbers to the simulations. You can provide a description and restrict the authorization for the simulation.

  • Point of Entry

You need the following data if you want to create a variant configuration:

    • Material

    • Plant

    • Use

  • Variant status

You can specify the status of the variant.

  • Effectivity (see Effectivity in Routing Component Assignment)

  • Variant configuration

If you have defined a material and a date for the simulation, you can create a variant configuration (see Variant Configuration on the Web UI (LO-VC-WUI)).

Caution Caution

The simulation must contain at least one use and one validity area.

End of the caution.

Activities

You save and activate the simulation for the planning scope.
