Function documentationWorking with Versions of the Planning Scope

You can create multiple versions of a planning scope (see Planning Scope). When you create a new planning scope, the system automatically generates the version 1. The system automatically creates a simulation for every new version (see Determination of Simulation Parameters for Planning Scope).

Versioning enables you to manage different plannings for a planning scope in parallel and display changes, such as changed simulation parameters, planning levels, and assignments to routings.

You only transfer engineering changes to production by means of the synchronization (see Synchronizing a Routing with a Manufacturing BOM).

Activities

  • You create further versions of the planning scope in change mode by choosing Start of the navigation path Additional Functions Next navigation step Create Versions End of the navigation path.

For every version of a planning scope, the system automatically creates a separate simulation that contains the date for restricting the product structure explosion.

  • For every version, you enter a change number for each of your manufacturing BOMs, in General Data under Assignments Routing to Material BOM.

The system then uses this change number for making changes to the manufacturing BOM and for assigning manufacturing BOM items to the routing.

    Note Note

The change number of a higher version must have a later validity than the change number of the lower version.

    End of the note.
