Controlling Specification ImportingFile checks and imports of specifications are controlled using parameters. You can set default parameters by defining default values in transfer profiles in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools
. You can overwrite the parameters in the parameter dialog.
You can use the following parameters to control the importing of specifications:
Preliminary check parameter
You use the Seach spec. type
field to define the method to be used for assigning the specifications in the transfer file to the specifications in the SAP system. The search method is used for:
Specifications
Content specifications
References
You can search using specification keys or precisely defined identifiers. You can also use various combinations.
When searching using identifiers, the specified identification listing is used for the search. The position and priority of an identifier within the identification listing are not relevant. All identifiers in the identification listing for a specification are read from the file.
The search can be performed as an AND or OR search using the Link type
field:
OR search: As soon as a specification in the SAP system has the same identifier as the specification from the file, this specification is set to the file specification. This can apply for multiple specifications in the SAP system, meaning that more than one specification from the SAP system may be assigned to a specification from the file. You then have to complete the precise assignment manually.
Example
Specification IMPSUB in file has CAS no. 50-00-0. It is searched for using the CAS number. 3 specifications (SUB1, SUB2, SUB3) are found in the system with this CAS no. The following is then displayed:
SUB1 50-00-0
IMPSUB 50-00-0
SUB2 50-00-0
IMPSUB 50-00-0
SUB3 50-00-0
IMPSUB 50-00-0
No assignment is marked for importing. You have to perform the correct assignment yourself.
AND search: The specification in the SAP system must have the same identification listing identifiers as the specification in the file. If the specification in the file does not have all the identifiers of the identification listing, the system will only search using the existing ones.
Transfer parameters
You define how new data is imported into the SAP system and whether old data is deleted or retained.
Example
You use the Spec. deletion type
field to define whether
All specification data is deleted before the SAP system import
No specification data is deleted and the import is carried out additively
Data is deleted and reloaded only if it corresponds to the data origin and data provider in the transfer file
The value assignments of the value assignment types in the property tree specified as a parameter are deleted. Identifiers, references, and material assignments are not deleted.
The data of specifications with change number is deleted
You use the Phrase conversion
field to define that all phrases that are used in the value assignments are converted into phrases of the active phrase library, if phrase references have been defined.
You use the Property Tree
or Usage Profile
to define that data belonging to the value assignment types of a specific property tree or the usage of a specific usage profile is imported. In Set Up Property Trees
of In Customizing for Basic Data and Tools
, you can select the property trees that are to be available for the import.
When specification data is imported, a check is made to determine whether its identifiers already exist in the system (see Importing Identifiers). If an identifier for a specification already exists, it is not created again. You use the Check nonstand. ID
indicator to define whether the identifiers are to be standardized (indicator not set) or not (indicator set) for this check; in other words, you can define whether or not identifiers such as ACETON
and Aceton
, for example, are to be considered identical. This means you can ensure that identifiers whose exact spelling and style is laid down in laws or regulations are only not imported if an identifier with exactly the same spelling and style already exists.
Parameters for default values
You define default values for the specification type, authorization group, user-defined text type and component type. If the values are missing from the transfer file, the SAP system will use default values.
You define whether the specification key from the internal number range is to be used for new specifications. If not, the specification key from the file is used.
