Importing Identifiers

Use

Before importing identifiers, the SAP checks that they are unique.

Note Note

When Controlling Specification Importing, you can define whether or not to standardize identifiers for this check.

End of the note.

Features

The following may occur during the check:

Initial situation

Result

The identifier exists both in the SAP system and transfer file with the same data origin.

The identifier remains unchanged.

The identifier exists both in the SAP system and transfer file, but the data origin is not the same.

The data origin of the identifier will be deleted in the SAP system.

Note Note

If the data origin for an identifier is missing, this means that the identifier has at least two data origins.

End of the note.

Initial situation

Result

The identifier exists in the transfer file, but not in the SAP system.

The identifier will be created in the SAP system with its data origin.

The identifier exists in the SAP system, but not in the transfer file.

The identifier is deleted.

Note Note

This procedure ensures that write errors in an identifier in the SAP system can be corrected by a new import.

To ensure that no undesired loss of data occurs when deleting an identifier, you must ensure that all the required identifiers exist in full in the transfer file.

The incorrect identifier WASER exists in the SAP system with data origin ABC. In a new import, the correct identifier WATER with data origin ABC is created in the SAP system. Since WASER does not exist in the transfer file, WASER is deleted by the SAP system. The write error is therefore corrected.
