Gate Service

After using the Self-Scanning Clients on customer devices (BYOD), the shopper can also exit the store directly at the end of the shopping trip using the Gate Service.

The Gate Service receives a command from the Gate Adapter to either open or stay closed.

The command can be sent either by the Event Service or a client (SCO POS, Mobile Assistant), depending on the consumer journey.

The client application contacts the Payment Service, which initiates communication with an external payment provider (Adyen). In addition, this service handles communication and transactions within the correlated GK OmniPOS environment and informs the Gate Service about the finalization of the transaction. The Gate Service then opens the exit gate when the shopper shows the generated exit code.

Together with the Self-Scanning Client, this provides a frictionless shopping experience to customers on-site in a store without involving a POS. The personnel capacities that are freed up can be used to provide customers with more advice and better service. Stationary checkout points are still available since they are integrated into the GK landscape.

In addition to automatic check-out, the Gate Service offers options for manual check-out in the case of an error.
