An item may be sold in different packaging units. If different master data records exist for different packaging units of an item, the cashier has to select the desired one.

If the function is called by a button, then the cashier enters an item (manually or using a scanner). Afterwards, it is checked whether additional packaging units exit for the item. If this is the case, a list of these items is displayed to the cashier. The selected item will be adopted into the transaction.

Alternatively, for each entered item it could be automatically checked if packaging units exist. If this is the case, the cashier can select between these additional packaging units and the entered item itself. Otherwise, the entered item will be directly adopted into the transaction.
