Workflow: Remote Delta Link Usage

Content usage mode: remote delta link

Applies to: producers, consumers

This topic describes the basic activities performed by administrators on a producer and consumer portal, which enable a content administrator on the consumer portal to copy remote content as delta links from the producer portal, and to then reuse and customize the content locally.

Prerequisites

  • You have completed the post-installation and basic configuration steps on each portal. The portals must be fully operational.

  • You have fulfilled the minimal prerequisites for implementing FPN in your landscape. For more information, see Prerequisites .

  • The user bases of the portals adhere to the requirements described in User Persistence .

Process

The following table lists the sequence of activities performed by administrators on the producer and consumer portals.

Some activities need to be performed by the producer before the consumer can proceed and vice versa. Steps marked with the same number in both columns indicate that the steps can be performed by the producer and the consumer in any order or in parallel.

7. Assign administrator permissions to FPN connection (optional)

 

8. Test integrity of remote delta link configuration (optional)

 

9. Configure invalidation policy of remote delta link content

10. Browse remote Portal Catalog and copy content as remote delta links

11. Customize copied objects (optional)

12. Assign copied content to local roles (not applicable if you have copied only remote roles)

13. Assign copied roles and updated local roles to users and groups

14. Assign end-user permission to FPN content

15. Optimize your caching configuration

 

16. Configure invalidation policy of remote delta link content

17. Map users on the producer (optional)
