Worklists Sorted by Collection, Object Type, Object Name

Use

Before creating a worklist in transaction Translation Editor (SE63), you choose Start of the navigation pathUtilities Next navigation step User Settings Next navigation step WorklistEnd of the navigation path and maintain the worklist settings to suit the way you like to work. The radio buttons at the top of the Display group box enable you to determine the structure of your worklist.

If you intend to create a worklist for more than one collection at a time, we recommend that you sort by collection so that you can see at a glance which objects in your worklist belong to which collection.

This topic explains the structure of a worklist that is sorted by collection, object type, object name. All objects in a collection that have the same object type are listed under the same object type node, such as <DTEL> Data Elements and <MESS> Messages. This makes it easier for you to complete translation of all data element short text objects, for example, or message short text objects in a particular collection before you turn your attention to object types that do not immediately appear on user interfaces, such as <RE> Reports, Function Groups, Logical Databases and <TX> General Texts.

Features

After you have selected the Collection, Object Type, Object Name radio button in the worklist settings and created a standard worklist in transaction SE63, the Standard Worklist: Objects for <user name> from <source language> to <target language> screen appears.

The word Collections is displayed at the very top of your worklist, followed by the number of translation objects that you have reserved. The icon indicates that the figures displayed on this level are totals. You then see:

  • The total number of lines (in the case of short text objects) and/or units (in the case of all other objects) reserved in this worklist
  • The total number of new lines and/or units reserved in this worklist
  • The total number of modified lines and/or units reserved in this worklist
  • The total number of translated lines and/or units reserved in this worklist

Finally, a text explains how the worklist is currently sorted in accordance with settings that you access by choosing Start of the navigation pathUtilities Next navigation step Sort WorklistEnd of the navigation path on this screen.

On the second level, you see the description or name of the first collection for which you have reserved objects for translation in your standard worklist. For information on collection descriptions and names, see step 3 in Maintaining Worklist Settings. The icon indicates that the figures displayed on this level are subtotals. You then see:

  • The total number of lines (in the case of short text objects) and/or units (in the case of all other objects) reserved in this worklist for this collection
  • The total number of new lines and/or units reserved in this worklist for this collection
  • The total number of modified lines and/or units reserved in this worklist for this collection
  • The total number of translated lines and/or units reserved in this worklist for this collection

On the third level, you see the object types of the objects reserved in the worklist. The object type ID, which consists of 2 to 4 characters, is displayed in front of the description of each object type. For example:

  • <CA4> Interface Texts (PROG)
  • <DOMA> Domains
  • <TABT> Table Descriptions

The object type node is displayed in white if just one object is assigned to it, or blue if more than one object is assigned to it. The worklist settings enable you to determine whether object type nodes with a single object are expanded by default. You then see:

  • The total number of lines (in the case of short text objects) or units (in the case of all other objects) of this object type that are reserved in this worklist for this collection
  • The total number of new lines or units of this object type that are reserved in this worklist for this collection
  • The total number of modified lines or units of this object type that are reserved in this worklist for this collection
  • The total number of translated lines or units of this object type that are reserved in this worklist for this collection

On the fourth level, you see the description or name of each object to be translated in your standard worklist. For information on object descriptions and names, see step 4 in Maintaining Worklist Settings. You then see:
