Use

Ingredients are substances that are required for producing output substances in a formula. The Ingredients formula view contains the ingredients of the output substances of the formula.

Note Note

Substances such as packagings that are not involved in the actual production of the output substances are not ingredients.

Prerequisites

In Customizing for Recipe Management , you have specified the following for the Ingredients formula view:

  • In the IMG activity Set Up and Activate Formula Views , you have set up the formula view.

  • In the IMG activity Specify Allowed Specification Types , you have specified which substance types you can use.

  • In the IMG activity Define Allowed Units of Measure , you have specified which units of measure you can use.

  • In the IMG activity Specify Formula View Parameters , you have specified whether the formula view is ready for input if you do not set the formula as a reaction or if you set the formula as a reaction of a specific category.

  • In the IMG activity Specify Explosion Scopes , you have made the necessary settings for the formula explosion .

  • In the IMG activity Specify Parameters for Explosion Scope , you have specified which formula view the system uses in the formula explosion for formulas with and without a reaction, to determine the data for the Ingredients formula view.

In Customizing for the Environment, Health and Safety component, you have specified the following for the Ingredients formula view:

  • In the IMG activity Specify Context-Specific Component Types , you have specified which component types you can use.

  • In the IMG activity Specify Context-Specific Exception Values , you have specified which exception values you can use.

Features

The system determines the ingredients of the primary output of the formula when you open the Ingredients formula view. To do this, it performs a cross-recipe formula explosion. In the standard system, this runs in the same way as the formula explosion that the system performs when it determines the composition (see Calculation of Composition ), however, when it determines the ingredients, the system does not replace the substances found with the composition that is specified in the property tree for these substances.

If the Ingredients formula view is not ready for input, the system only displays the determined ingredients of the primary output. You cannot change these ingredients and you cannot enter ingredients for secondary outputs. If the Ingredients formula view is ready for input, you can enter the ingredients of the output substances of the formula, and this for all output substances that are entered in standard items in the Input and Output formula view. In addition to the ingredients, you specify their proportional quantity in the output substance, and the corresponding tolerance range of the proportion. You specify an exception value for an item whose quantity cannot be determined exactly or not at all. This exception value specifies the type of exception or the reason for the exception.

You use the function with the quick info text Calculate Template Values to transfer the determined values to the values you entered manually. Note the following:

  • If the formula already contains manually entered values for the selected output substance, these are overwritten.

  • Regardless of which output substance you selected, the system always determines the ingredients of the primary output only. This means that the transfer of the determined values to the manually entered values often only makes sense for the primary output.

With the Compare Calculated and Manual display mode, you can compare the data calculated and the data entered for an output substance.

The data in the Ingredients formula view is saved in the database at the following points in time:

  • If the view is ready for input, the system saves the data in the database as soon as you save your entries.

  • If the view is not ready for input, the system saves the data only when you run the consistency check for the formula and if you have specified in Customizing for Recipe Management in the IMG activity Set Up and Activate Formula Views that the Ingredients formula view is relevant for consistency. The system then calculates the ingredients in the consistency check, saves the data in the database, and displays this data in the Ingredients view in the field for the manually entered values.

    Note Note

    When you run the consistency check for a formula with ingredients that are ready for input, the system does not recalculate the ingredients and also does not change entered ingredients.

You can search for formulas using the ingredients that are saved in the database.

Activities

To enter the ingredients, proceed as follows:

  1. Load the formula for whose output substances you want to enter ingredients and select the formula in the hit list or navigation area by double-clicking it.

  2. Choose the Ingredients tab page.

  3. In the Output Substance field, select the output substance whose ingredients you want to enter.

  4. Choose the display mode Composition Entered Manually .

  5. Enter the ingredients and their proportions in the output substance.

    Note Note

    You can transfer substances from the navigation area of the recipe workbench to the ingredients using drag and drop. For more information, see Drag and Drop and Editing Material and Substance Items .

    If the calculated values contain all ingredients whose values you want to enter, choose the Compare Calculated and Manual display mode. You then only have to enter the values for the ingredients and not the ingredients themselves. Furthermore, you see the calculated values straight away and can immediately identify any values that differ from those that were calculated, for example.
