CMC Selection Screen

You display the CMC via a selection screen. With over 50 order-related selection options, the CMC selection screen provides you with extensive capability to select existing orders and notifications in the SAP System. Not every user should use every selection option. However, standard functionality allows you to define display variants, and you can also set up CMC profiles for specific users or work centers in Customizing.

Caution Caution

If the selected CMC profile is configured so that the CMC only selects refurbishment orders and service orders, on selection of the CMC profile the system fills the Order type field in the Selection area of the selection screen. On execution, the system only shows orders and operations that have those order types. This may not coincide with your other inputs on the selection screen. In such a case, you can overwrite the Order type field.

On the selection screen you can overwrite the majority of the default values that the CMC takes from the CMC profile. For example, you can enter a standard user status profile that has not been assigned to a CMC user status profile in the field Status Profile in the Display Options area. This enables you to display orders in the CMC that have a user status that is not included in any of the CMC user status groups. However, if you select such a profile the system overrules the CMC-specific settings for the CMC user status groups, meaning that the CMC user status folders are no longer sorted as per the settings in Customizing for CMC User Statuses. Instead, in the CMC order hierarchy the system sorts the user statuses from the standard user status profile according to the user status number .

End of the caution.

The selection screen is a hybrid of three standard selection screens:

  • select orders on header level for information, for instance order start and end dates, equipment and material

  • select orders on operation level, aimed at work center-specific information

  • select notifications

By combining the capabilities to select both on order header level and on operation level, the CMC enables the user to select work center-specific information without losing the ability to select orders on header level. This ensures that the tool can be used for planning from a work center perspective and for monitoring from a more general perspective.

Example Example

A work center may start the CMC using the basic selection criteria: ‘Display all orders that bear my work center name on operation level’.

For a user performing general monitoring, the selection criteria may be: ‘Display all orders with material X on header level’.

End of the example.

On the lower part of the selection screen you can set different display, processing, and layout options for the CMC:

  • The display filter allows you to select notifications and/or orders as well as filter out completed operations and/or operations without duration ('dummy operations').

  • You can choose whether the CMC only displays folders in the Order hierarchy if they contain data, or displays all possible folders. The default is set to only display folders that contain data.

  • To avoid unintentional processing of too many orders you can define an upper select limit. The system default is set to 250 orders, however you can change this default. The select limit ensures that if your selection surpasses the defined select limit, the CMC only processes and displays orders up to that limit. A dialog box advises you that the system restricts your selection if you surpass the defined limit. This is also the case if you click Refresh on the main screen, because the CMC executes your selection again.

  • You can activate a message log to provide you with messages in respect of errors in the evaluation of orders and operations and in the ROC calculation. You can determine that you receive a dialog box each time the system generates a message in the log.

Note Note

The system renews the message log each time you click Refresh , or restart the CMC. The default value is set to inactive.

End of the note.
  • You can determine whether the CMC displays operations in a compressed or non-compressed manner. If you select the compressed option the CMC bundles sequential operations that are in the same work center and displays them in one line. If you select the non-compressed option the CMC puts each operation on a separate line. The option that you select affects how the CMC distributes the buffer. For more information, see Buffer Distribution .

Once you execute the selection, the system reads all orders that match your criteria. All open-loop orders are subject to update (dependent on the Customizing settings). The CMC inserts the range of coverage (ROC) date as a new end date in the order header and reschedules the order. If you have defined a maximum turnaround-time (max. TAT) in Customizing, the max. TAT replaces the ROC date if it is lower than the determined ROC. The CMC does not reschedule closed-loop orders with a new end date/time, because of their due dates (depending on the Customizing settings).

A further option, on the selection screen allows you to restrict rescheduling or switch it off completely, so that the CMC does not reschedule any order types or not all order types (irrespective of the Customizing settings). This enables you to run a selection without rescheduling orders.

Furthermore, you can determine the extent to which the CMC processes selected orders. You can choose between full calculation mode (priority calculation and automatic rescheduling), partial calculation mode (without automatic rescheduling), and display only mode.

Note Note

If you select the display only mode, the CMC displays your selection without priority values, earliest/latest date and times, alert settings, warnings, and update constraints.

This option is also in the CMC profile. However, you can overwrite the defined default value on the selection screen.

You can overrule the parameters from the CMC profile on the selection screen. However, if you have created a selection variant the system uses the CMC profile parameters and not the selection variant parameters. To overcome this you must enter the values that you require in the relevant field each time, or change the Customizing settings accordingly. If you have no authorization for Customizing, contact your system administrator.
