Optimized Story Experience Restrictions

In SAP Analytics Cloud, while the optimized story experience improves the performance of dashboards (in certain scenarios), it doesn't include all the features that are currently supported in the non-optimized (classic) experience.

Below are the features that are not yet supported in the optimized story experience. The status of the features is updated with each release.

The optimized story experience has two modes: the design mode (optimized design experience, or ODE) and the view mode (optimized view mode, or OVM).

The following features are supported in optimized view mode, optimized design experience, both modes (optimized story experience), or in analytic applications.

Optimized Story Experience

Features that Won't be Available in Optimized Story Experience

Some features won't be available in the optimized story experience. The story designer will need to change or remove the following features before they can save or convert their story to the optimized story experience.

 Use the Builder panel to transform objects to New Value Driver Tree objects.

In the Styling panel, select the following option: Show all instances on pages.

Features and Situations that Block Optimized Story Experience

If your story contains at least one of the following features, you won't be able to save or convert the story to the optimized story experience. You will have to remove the features from your story before you can proceed.

  • Unsupported Data Model

  • BW Features:

    • BW Systems with Linked Analysis without Complex Filter Capability (deprecated functionality)

    • Dimension Links with a Link to the Matching Hierarchy Option Enabled

Features that Show a Ghost Widget

Any charts, tables, or other widgets that contain unsupported features will display a ghost widget instead of the normal widget, along with a message listing the unsupported features. (A ghost widget is a grayed out version of the widget.)

For the Optimized Design Experience, these features will be permanently lost.
