Enable Optimized Story Experience

The optimized story experience enables content within an SAP Analytics Cloud story to load faster.

There are two ways to enable the optimized design experience:

With either approach you can use the classic view mode or enable the optimized view mode. (See How to Enable the Optimized View Mode.)

How to Enable Optimized Design Experience – Convert an Existing Story

Tip

The conversion to the Optimized Design Experience is permanent and any unsupported features will be permanently lost.

We recommend that you duplicate your story before converting it.

  1. In SAP Analytics Cloud, open an existing story.

  2. Switch to Edit mode.

  3. From the File menu select Start of the navigation pathEdit Story Next navigation step Convert to Optimized Design ModeEnd of the navigation path.

    Note

    The warning dialog that appears shows the features that will be permanently lost (unsupported or deprecated features) when you click Convert or the blocking features that will prevent you from converting your story.

  4. Click Convert.

    You'll see a dialog notifying you that the story is being converted to Design Mode. If the conversion is successful, the dialog mentioning successful conversion will appear and the design experience story will start to load.

How to Enable Optimized Design Experience – Create a New Story

  1. From the SAP Analytics Cloud Home screen, select Stories.

  2. Select either a Responsive or Canvas page.

  3. In the Select Design Mode Type dialog, select Optimized Design Experience, and then click Create.

The Optimized Design Experience dashboard opens, and you can start adding visualizations.

How to Enable Optimized View Mode

Optimized view mode is not enabled by default, and you need to go into each story separately to enable this view mode.

  1. In SAP Analytics Cloud, open an existing story.

  2. Switch to Edit mode.

  3. From the File menu, do one of the following actions.

    • Use the Save menu: select Start of the navigation path(Save) Next navigation step Enable Optimized View ModeEnd of the navigation path.

    • Use the Story Details:

      1. Select Start of the navigation path(Edit Story) Next navigation step Story DetailsEnd of the navigation path.

      2. In the View Time Optimization section, select Enable optimized mode.

      3. To save your changes, select Save.

  4. To save your story, from the file menu select Start of the navigation path (Save) Next navigation step SaveEnd of the navigation path.

You'll see a dialog notifying you that the story is being optimized. If the optimization is successful, you are notified that the story has been saved.

However, if the story can't be optimized, or if some items can't be included, a warning message is displayed explaining the details. Review the details in the warning and, if possible, resolve the issues.
