Procedure documentationDefining a Maintenance Object

Prerequisites

In the external system (Not valid for maintenance objects without external reference.):

  • Characteristics, functional locations, and equipment have been defined.

  • At least one maintenance plan exists for the functional location or equipment. That maintenance plan is currently in use, which means it is active, has been scheduled, and at least one schedule call lies in the past.

In SAP SCM:

  • Characteristics exist that match those in SAP R/3. (Not valid for maintenance objects without external reference.)

  • Counter types and a performance profile have been defined.

  • A maintenance profile exists that matches the SAP R/3 maintenance plan. (Not valid for maintenance objects without external reference.)

  • A maintenance object group exists for the new maintenance object.

You can define maintenance object groups in Customizing for Maintenance and Service Planning or on the SAP Easy Access screen, under Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Maintenance and Service Planning (MSP) Next navigation step Environment Next navigation step Current Settings Next navigation step Define Maintenance Object Group End of the navigation path.

  • One or more supply chain models exist.

Procedure

  1. On the SAP Easy Accessscreen, choose Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Master Data for Maintenance and Service Planning Next navigation step Maintenance Object End of the navigation path.

You can create, maintain, delete, and display maintenance objects in that transaction. This procedure describes how to create maintenance objects .

  1. In the Maintenance Object field, enter a name for the object you want to create and choose Create Maintenance Object.

The system enters the planning version automatically.

    Note Note

Irrespective of the planning version that you enter on the initial screen, SAP SCM creates the maintenance object in planning version 000. If you want to use the maintenance object in a different planning version, you have to create it first in planning version 000 and then use the Change Maintenance Object function to enter the required planning version.

    End of the note.
  2. In the dialog box Identification of Maintenance Object in External System, enter the following data:

    Field Name

To Create a Maintenance Object with or Without Cycles

To Create a Maintenance Object Without External Reference

    Remark

    Maintenance object (External)

<Equipment or Functional Location in SAP R/3>

    <Blank>

The system copies the name of the maintenance object that you entered on the initial screen. You can overwrite this field. For a maintenance object without reference, you delete the entry completely.

    1. If you want to create a maintenance object without cycles, choose Change Maintenance Object and save your entries.

    2. If you want to create a maintenance object with cycles:

      1. Choose Assign Cycles.

The list of maintenance plans that are currently used for this object in the external system appears.

      2. Select the maintenance plans that you want to plan in SAP SCM.

      3. For a maintenance object with external reference, enter a maintenance profile and synchronization point, and choose Continue.

      4. For a maintenance object without external reference, enter a maintenance profile with check intervals and a valid-from date, and choose Continue.

    3. For a maintenance object without external reference, on the Average Performance tab:

      1. Select the relevant performance profile.

      2. Choose Select Counter Types and select the required counter type(s).

      3. Enter a valid-from date and the counter consumption and choose Enter.

The valid-from date is the date from when the next maintenance check is due.

        Note Note

If required, you can also enter average performance data for maintenance objects with external reference. This allows you to use different counter types, valid-from dates, and counter consumptions to those transferred from SAP R/3. You can select the Read from Local System indicator to use the SAP SCM data or deselect it to use the SAP R/3 data..

        End of the note.
    4. Save your entries.
