Template 

Definition

Used as a basis for creating an object. You can create or use templates for the following objects:

·        Item

·        Initiative

The item or initiative template is created based on the item or initiative type.

Use

You create a template to use later on for creating a new object, such as item or initiative.

You create an item or initiative template by choosing Portfolio Management ® Administration. Then choose the Create New Item Template link or Create New Initiative Template link. You create the templates under a portfolio and a bucket.

Status

·        The initial status of an item or initiative template is Created.

·        To make a template available for creating objects, you must set the template status to Active.

While creating a new item or initiative, all the templates will be shown to the user in a dropdown box for selection. A preview link is provided to see the overview of the template selected. The dropdown box shows all the item or initiative templates in the bucket and the global templates of that portfolio. You can specify a template as Global to make the template available across all the buckets of the portfolio.

Structure

The template has the general attributes as provided in the delivered Customizing for SAP xApp Resource and Portfolio Management (SAP xRPM) under Global Customizing ® Global Field Settings ® Check SAP Field Configuration. The object type for the initiative template is IPT and for the item template it is PPT. The template attributes are copied to the item or initiative created from it.

The template has authorizations associated with it. The system copies access control lists (ACLs) maintained on the template object to the item or initiative created from it.
