Functions in the Short Text Editor 
The menu bar in the short text editor enables you to perform various functions. Some frequently used functions are also available in the standard toolbar and application toolbar.
You can access the following functions in the application toolbar:
Previous Line to be Processed/Next Line to be Processed
To access the next or previous line that needs to be processed because its translation status is new or modified, choose
(Previous Line to be Processed)/
(Next Line to be Processed) in the application toolbar. Lines with translated status are skipped.
Delete Target Text
To delete a translation in a translation line, place the cursor in the line and choose
(Delete Target Text) or .
To delete all the translations in a short text object, choose .
Undo
To undo the last change made in a translation line, place the cursor in the line and choose
(Undo) or .
If you want to undo all of the actions that you performed since you last saved for all of the texts in the object you are currently editing, choose .
Copy Source Text
To copy a source text into the translation line for one text line, place the cursor in the translation line and choose
(Copy Source Text) or . Alternatively, you can double-click the source text to copy it to the translation line.
To copy all of an object’s source texts into their translation lines, choose .
Find / Find and Replace in Target Text
To find a text or character string, choose
(Find) in the standard toolbar. The system displays a dialog box listing the first one hundred lines that contain the text you searched for. (One hundred is the default value.) If you select the character string that you require in this dialog box, the system takes you directly to the text line in the short text editor that contains this character string.
To find specific short texts in the translation lines, and then replace them with a different text, choose
(Find and Replace in Target Text) or . For more information on this function, see Finding and Replacing in the Target Text.
Comment for Object
To enter remarks on a text, choose
(Comment for Object) or . The comments dialog box enables you to enter several lines of text, change existing comments, or delete the entire comment. The comment applies to the entire object and is displayed at the top of the screen. If the comment consists of several lines, the system only displays the first line. To call up the entire comment, choose Comment for Object.
Test
After translating some short text object types, you can choose
(Test) or in the short text editor to display the texts you have just translated exactly as the end users will see them. For more information, see Simulating Short Text Objects.
Find Full Texts for Abbreviations
If an abbreviation has been used in the source or target text, you can display the full text for the abbreviation, providing that a full text has been defined in the proposal pool. Choose
(Find Full Texts for Abbreviations) or . For more information, see Displaying Full Texts for Abbreviations.
Distribute Proposals
To distribute proposals in the object you are currently translating, choose
(Distribute Proposals) or . For more information, see Distributing Proposals.
System Standards With Status S for All Modified Lines
You can create the translation in every modified line in the object as a system standard with quality status S. Choose
(System Standards With Status S for All Modified Lines) or . To confirm the confirmation prompt in the Create Proposals dialog box, choose Yes. If you want to use this function, your user profile in transaction LXE_MASTER needs authorization object PPQ3 with the value 01. This authorization object is included in the following standard profiles: TR, TS, VG, VJ, VK, XT, and XX. For more information on user profiles in transaction LXE_MASTER, see Translator Profiles.
Display Proposal Pool for Source Text
To display proposals for a source text that exist in the proposal pool of a different target language, choose
(Display Proposal Pool for Source Text) or . If you have not maintained the Text Display in Other Language field in your language settings, the Target Language dialog box appears. It enables you to choose a target language with a double-click. A separate window appears in which the contents of the proposal pool are displayed for the source text in the selected target language. To close this window, choose Continue. For more information on the language settings, refer to Transaction SE63 and read the section "Defining Your Translator Settings".
Problem Letter Box
To record problems with the object you are currently translating, choose
(Problem Letter Box). A dialog box is displayed, in which you can double-click the appropriate problem description. This information is recorded in the system, together with your user name, the source and target languages, and the date.
You can display the problems recorded via this function as follows:
Call up transaction LXE_MASTER and choose . This takes you to the Problem Messages dialog box.
The dialog box provides you with an overview of all problem types, as well as information on the objects for which problem messages were created.
