One of the first steps you carried out when starting your implementation was to create a library of perspectives and objectives. Once you create a context, you can then assign which perspectives and objectives are appropriate for the context. You can select one set of objectives for the Strategy and another set for the Scorecard.

Integration

When you pick objectives for the context, users can then access the Objectives screen of the Scorecard component in the application to see the objectives associated with their perspectives. If you have not yet created a dimensional model and associated objectives with KPIs, the objectives have no status indicators.

When you add or remove objectives from a context, this information does not automatically appear in the application until the scheduled task to do so runs. You can schedule this task using the Scheduler to run daily, weekly or monthly.

If a user tries to access Home before the schedule runs or if the task is never scheduled to run, the first user who accesses Home is going to get a message saying that the scorecard has been modified. The user is prompted to recalculate objectives and KPI status. The user should choose Yes. If the user chooses No, the All Objectives and All KPI's display as zero. These values do not change until the scheduled task runs.

Prerequisites

Someone with Create/Edit Objectives permissions has created perspectives and objectives.

You are an administrator or a user assigned to an application group with Create/Edit Contexts permissions. If Contexts is unavailable to you, it means you do not have the correct permissions.

You have created a context. For more information, see Context Development.

Features

You can do the following when selecting objectives for the context:

  • (Required) Select a context from the Context drop-down list to specify the perspectives and objectives for that context.

  • (Required) Select objectives for the context from the list of all perspectives and objectives.

  • Choose whether to select the same objectives for the strategy and scorecard, or to select different objectives for each. By default, the same set of objectives is used in the Strategy component as well as the Scorecard component.

  • Display the objectives selected for a context using Display selected objectives.

  • Clear individual selections from the context by clicking selected objectives.

  • Clear all selections from the context using Clear. The objectives are removed from the context but still exist in the library.

Activities

To select objectives for the context, choose Pick Objectives from the Context section.

  • To select the same objectives for the strategy and scorecard, click Use same objectives for Strategy and Scorecard and then select the objectives.

  • To select one set of objectives for the strategy and another for the scorecard, deselect Use same objectives for Strategy and Scorecard and then select individual sets of objectives.
