Maintaining Long Text Editor SettingsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can adapt the long text editor so that it meets your specific requirements by maintaining the settings in transaction SE63. We recommend that you use the standard settings.

Features

To maintain the long text editor settings, access the initial screen of transaction SE63, choose Start of the navigation path Utilities Next navigation step User Settings End of the navigation path, and then click on the Long Text Editor tab page. You can maintain the following long text editor settings:

  • Display tags expanded

If you select this checkbox, the tags are expanded by default.

This checkbox is not selected in the standard setting.

  • Break from no. of characters (0-255)

You can enter a maximum number of characters that an element (that is, a tag or a text) may contain before a line break occurs. This setting only influences how the source and target texts are displayed in the long text editor. It does not affect how the texts are displayed for end users, because this formatting information is contained in the tags. The standard setting is 30 characters.

  • Source text window size (%)

You can determine how much of the long text editor is taken up by the source text window, and how much by the target text window, when an object is called up for translation. The default setting is 50%.

  • Save and next

If you select this checkbox, and then sequentially process long text objects in your worklist, actively saving an object makes the system automatically open the next object that you need to process. This setting is active by default.
